Before you install
What each source needs
Video summaries are built from subtitles, so a few things have to be true. We would rather you know now than find out after installing.
YouTube
The video needs to have captions available — auto-generated ones count. You do not have to turn them on. A video with no captions at all cannot be summarized.
Netflix
Subtitles have to be turned on in the player. Mentorina reads the track you selected, in the language you picked, and stops the summary at your current playback position so nothing ahead is spoiled.
PDFs
The PDF has to have selectable text. Scanned documents, password-protected files and one-time download links do not work.
Web pages
Ordinary articles and documentation work as they are. Pages behind a login work as long as you can see them.
Frequently asked questions
What can Mentorina summarize?
YouTube videos (including Shorts), Netflix episodes, PDFs you open in the browser, and web pages. Reddit, GitHub, Stack Overflow, Hacker News and X get dedicated handling so those pages come out clean instead of full of navigation noise. You can hide the floating buttons on any site you like.
Do I need to turn captions on for YouTube?
No — the video just needs to have captions available, and auto-generated ones count. Mentorina reads the track the player uses, or fetches it directly when captions are off. A video with no captions at all can't be summarized.
How does Netflix work?
Turn subtitles on in the player and open the panel. Mentorina reads the subtitle track you selected, in whatever language you picked. If subtitles are off it will tell you rather than guessing. One episode at a time — the one you're watching.
Which PDFs don't work?
Scanned documents (pages that are images with no selectable text), password-protected files, and PDFs that can't be downloaded a second time — one-time links or files generated after a form submission. Everything else works, including files on your computer once you allow file access in Chrome.
Will a summary spoil the episode?
Not by default. Video summaries stop at the point you've watched up to, so you get caught up without seeing what's coming. There's a visible switch for summarizing the whole thing when that's what you want.
How do credits work?
You pick a quality mode rather than a model. Fast costs 1 credit, Balanced 3 and Deep 15. On paid plans Fast is unlimited and free, so credits only go towards the stronger modes. Credits reset every month, and if the same content has been summarized before you get it back without spending any.
What languages does it support?
The interface is available in English and Turkish, and summaries come back in whichever of the two you're using. The source can be in any language — so you can watch an English video and read a Turkish summary.

Any Chromium-based browser — Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Arc and the rest. Install it from the Chrome Web Store and it works the same in all of them. There is no Firefox, Safari or mobile version.
What happens to the things I summarize?
Page, video or document content is sent to third-party AI providers to generate the summary, and is never used to train models. We store the URL, the title and the summary so your history works across devices — and you can delete all of it from your account page at any time. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
Can I cancel any time?
