Mentorina

Privacy Policy

Introduction

Mentorina is a browser extension and website that summarizes web pages and YouTube videos and answers questions about them. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

Data We Collect

  • Account data — your email address and, optionally, your name. If you sign in with Google we receive your email and name from Google; we never see your Google password. If you register with a password, we store only a bcrypt hash of it, never the password itself.
  • Content you summarize — when you request a summary we store the page URL, its title, the text extracted from it, and the summary that was generated, so that your history is available across your devices.
  • Usage data — counters recording how many summaries and questions you have used in the current period, so we can apply the limits of your plan.
  • Payment data — a customer identifier issued by our payment provider, and the billing events they send us.
  • Usage and diagnostic data — a device identifier, a session identifier, the app version, your browser user agent, your interface language, your timezone offset, and the names and attributes of the actions you take (for example: a summary was requested in a given mode, an extraction failed with a given error code, a page was of a given content type and size range). It also includes the domain names of sites where you run Mentorina — for example youtube.com — and, when something breaks, error messages and the file and line numbers inside Mentorina's own code.

How Page Content Is Processed

To produce a summary or answer a question, the text of the page you are viewing is sent to third-party AI providers that operate the language models we use. These providers process the content solely to return a result to you. We do not use your content to train models, and we do not sell it.

Content is extracted only when you explicitly ask for a summary or ask a question. Mentorina does not read or transmit pages in the background, and it does not run on pages where you have disabled it.

Because summaries are produced by AI, they may be incomplete or inaccurate. Do not rely on them for decisions that require accuracy without checking the source.

How We Use Your Data

  • Provide and operate the service
  • Maintain your summary history and apply your plan's limits
  • Process subscriptions and handle billing questions
  • Send account emails such as verification and password reset
  • Detect and prevent abuse

We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

Analytics and Your Choices

Usage and diagnostic data goes only to our own servers. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising networks or any third-party analytics service, and we do not share this data with anyone.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, nothing is collected until you explicitly allow it. Elsewhere, collection is on by default under our legitimate interest in improving the product, and you are told about it the first time you open the extension or this site.

We honour Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a GPC signal — Brave and DuckDuckGo do so by default, Firefox has a setting for it — we treat that as an opt-out and collect nothing, wherever you are. You can still turn collection on afterwards if you choose to; that choice is more specific than a browser-wide default, so it takes precedence.

Two kinds of record do not depend on this choice: security records (failed sign-ins, rate limiting, rejected payment webhooks), kept under our legitimate interest in protecting the service, and records of what each AI request cost, kept to operate and bill the subscription you asked for.

You can change it at any time — on this site from Privacy settings in the footer. While you are signed in, this choice is stored on your account and applies to both the extension and the website; if you are not signed in, it is stored in that browser only and each surface keeps its own. The device identifiers themselves always stay separate — the extension cannot see the website's, and the website cannot see the extension's.

Turning it off stops collection and deletes the device identifier, so anything collected afterwards cannot be connected to what came before. Usage data already collected is removed together with your account; to have it removed sooner, write to [email protected].

Payments

Subscriptions are handled by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record. Your card details are entered on Paddle's systems and never reach our servers. We store only the customer identifier Paddle issues and the subscription status it reports.

Mentorina is operated by Lingosive, so checkout pages, receipts and card statements may show that name instead.

Data Retention

Account and summary data are kept while your account exists. Usage and diagnostic events are kept for 180 days and then deleted automatically. The

Records we keep for security and fraud prevention — failed sign-in attempts, rate-limit hits and rejected payment webhooks — and records of what each AI request cost us are kept separately from analytics. They are not based on your consent and are not removed when you delete your usage data, because a security log you can erase is not a security log and a billing record you can erase is not a billing record.

When you delete your account, your profile, history, usage records, and sessions are removed from active service and you can no longer sign in. A copy is retained in a separate secure archive for up to 30 days solely for fraud prevention, accounting, and dispute resolution. To request early deletion of that copy as well, write to [email protected].

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your data
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Receive your data in a portable form
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on it

You can delete your account yourself at any time from the account page. To request a copy of your data, or erasure of the archive described under Data Retention, write to [email protected] and we will respond within one month.

Cookies and Local Storage

We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking, and there are no third-party tracking scripts on this site. Your session tokens are kept in your browser's local storage so that you stay signed in, and the extension stores your preferences locally on your device. Our consent card says “cookies and similar technologies” because that is the phrase people recognise; in practice Mentorina uses local storage rather than cookies, and the rules that apply are the same either way.

If you allow usage data, we also store a device identifier locally — in the site's local storage and, separately, in the extension's own storage. It identifies a browser rather than a person, is never shared with anyone, and is deleted the moment you turn analytics off.

Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. Session tokens are stored only as hashes on our servers, so signing out or changing your password genuinely invalidates them. All traffic between your browser and our servers is encrypted in transit.
